An increasing number of people in the United States are opting for butt implants and butt lifts, a rate higher than facial procedures and breast augmentation, a new report finds. According to the latest data from the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, butt implants and lifts are the most emerging type of plastic surgery in the United States.

A butt implant and lift procedure was carried out every 30 minutes on average, the report reveals. Minimally-invasive cosmetic procedures have risen by 2 percent when compared to that in 2014 and a total of 15.9 million surgical procedures were carried out last year. The top five cosmetic procedures, according to the report, were botulinum toxin type A (Botox) injections, soft-tissue fillers, chemical peels, laser hair removal and microdermabrasion.
“While more traditional facial procedures and breast augmentations are still among the most popular, we’re seeing much more diversity in the areas of the body patients are choosing to address,” said ASPS president David Song.

“Patients have more options than ever — and working closely with their surgeon, they are able to focus on specific target areas of the body to achieve the look they desire,” Song added.
The data also revealed a growth in plastic surgery procedures by 115 percent from 2000 to 2015. More than 68,000 breast reduction surgeries were carried out in 2015, where men account for more than 40 percent of the medical procedures.
The 2015 statistics by ASPS also reported that more than 40 percent of breast reductions are not carried out on males. More than 27,000 breast reduction surgeries were carried out on men last year, a rate that is 5 percent higher than in 2015 and 35 percent more than in 2000.
Similarly, more breast cancer patients were reported to undergo breast reduction and more than 106,000 such procedures were carried out last year.
“That’s encouraging, and we hope to continue to get the word out to all women who are facing breast cancer, so they will be well aware of all their reconstructive options from the outset of diagnosis,” Song said.
Several medical researches have also reported in the growth of non-invasive procedures as a major boost to the cosmetic clinics in the United States. Procedures that do not require patients to go under the knife have been driving the cosmetic industry in several cities in the US, including Dallas, Texas.
Though butt implants, breast augmentation, facelifts and liposuction are still rated as the most requested surgical procedures today, many people are searching for a more natural look with quick recovery time and subtle transformations surgeons report.

Non-invasive cosmetic procedures are also on the rise in several parts of Asia.
“I have noticed an exponential growth of non-surgical procedures in the past five years,” said Dr Luiz Toledo, who also predicts that the next trend in the field of cosmetic surgery will be focused on regeneration involving stem cells obtained from liposuction fat.
Dr Matteo Vigo, of Dubai’s American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery Hospital, says: “Combining fat grafting, stem cells and DNA analysis can guarantee incredible, long-lasting and natural results, omitting the need for surgery in many cases.”
“The demand from the patient is to have something quick, easy, with fast recovery and minimal downtime,” he added.
