World of Dance is on to its third season (it premieres on Feb. 26 on NBC), and we couldn't be more excited for the talented soloists, duos, and teams to leap and lock their way into our weeknights. For a little refresher on the hit dance series, competitors are placed into four divisions: Junior (one to four members 17 years and under), Junior Team (five to 15 members 17 years and under), Upper (one to four members 18 years and older), and Upper Team (five to 15 members 18 years and older). There are five rounds of competition and a $1 million prize. This season, judges Jennifer Lopez, Ne-Yo, and Derek Hough have raised the stakes by upping the qualifying score for the second round, The Duels, by five points. They're also adding a new concept called Redemption.
Last year, the grand prize went to The Lab, a hip-hop junior team from West Covina, CA. What some people might not know is that they actually first competed in season one, and were the highest-scoring team in their division. Back then, The Lab reportedly consisted of 10 members; in season two, they returned with a total of 15. Throughout the competition, their transitions and formations were seamless, their energy was infectious, and their passion was undeniable. As J Lo expressed at the World of Dance finale, the group's journey and talent "doesn't cease to amaze me." In honor of their victory, and the search for a new champion in 2019, we've brought you The Lab's dynamic, too-good-for-words performances from season two, full of acrobatics, attitude, and a whole lot of wow.
