Simone De La Rue Says This Is the First Thing to Cut Out of Your Diet to Lose Weight

Exercise and a healthy nutrition plan are two of the best ways to lose weight, especially when done together. Most experts agree that in order to lose weight, you should consume fewer calories than you expend with exercise and other physical activity. According to Pratik Patel, New York Giants director of performance nutrition and assistant strength and conditioning coach, eating 500 calories fewer than you burn through exercise and physical activity every day for a week will put you on track to lose one pound a week.

This may sound easy, but NASM-certified trainer and founder of Body By Simone, Simone De La Rue, explained that there's a right and wrong way to cut your caloric intake. "Ladies, no point to limiting your food intake but drinking your calories! [This is the] first thing I say to all my clients looking to lose weight. Get off the booze," she wrote in an Instagram caption.

It can be easy to disregard how many calories are in alcohol, especially because it's a liquid, but at the end of the day, those calories still count towards your daily caloric intake.

Here's a calorie comparison of popular beers and a list of how many calories are in wine. We're not saying to stop drinking for good, but it could be worth a shot if you want to lose weight.
