In the fitness world, “PT” doesn’t stand for physical therapy, it stands for personal training. And with personal training being so popular, it stands to reason that new trends in personal training would arise.

As reported by WAGMTV, online personal training is one of those new trends that’s popping up in the fitness world. It stands to reason that technology would make everything from tutoring to personal communications better — so why not leak into the fitness industry as well? One of those personal trainers is Jess Kraiza, a woman who meets with her personal training clients online without having to meet them in person. The positive aspects of online personal training means that the client and trainer don’t have to live in the same city in order to benefit from the relationship.

As witnessed by a Twitter search for online personal training, the notion is a growing trend. The way that trainers offer services online can vary based on the personal trainer, with some offering eating plans and workout routines, and others giving out more specific advice based on the specific client.

The subject of online personal training arose on the new reality show from Bravo called Work Out New York. Several members of the cast performed an audition for a potential online personal training program, described as like a “Netflix for fitness,” which puts the whole fitness training on the web in perspective.

Beyond online personal training, other trends in training include personal training within groups. According to CBS, group personal training generally involves a trainer taking on three or four clients at a time. The benefits of group personal training includes the notion that several friends can get together and all receive personal training together — something less intimidating than training alone, as some folks feel it could be. It can also be beneficial for both the personal trainer and those experiencing the group training, because those getting trained usually split the costs of the training and pay less than they would have paid from training alone.

The personal trainer can benefit from group training by knocking out three or four sessions at the same time by training a group of folks together.

A trend that seems to be continuing well into 2016 includes listening to the tips that celebrity trainers are offering. As reported by the Daily Mail, 46-year-old Jennifer Lopez’s personal trainer, Tracy Anderson, shared the type of diet that J. Lo eats to help keep her famous backside in order. Tracy gave hints on Lopez’s diet that help her have enough energy for her Las Vegas shows — without having to resort to her favorite snack food: pizza.

“Everything is fresh. There’s nothing processed. The only thing that’s processed is just [protein powder] in a shake if we do a protein shake one day. I have her eating very clean because she needs really good fuel for all the things that she’s doing. It’s all organic and it’s all very well thought out, with the balance of very high quality proteins and a lot of nutrient-dense food.

“She is a very balanced person, so she’s not going to miss out on Thanksgiving or a holiday with her children. That’s one of the reasons why the workout is important, and it’s so consistent – so we don’t do any kind of extreme dieting. What’s going on inside of us is a really reflection of what’s going on on the outside of us, and she’s very a happy person and that just translates into beauty. She loves life, and loving life is taking care of her body.”

Lopez spoke about eating a balanced diet, and working out more when she wants to splurge.
