Clare Daly, a 29-year-old woman from the UK passed passed away in December 2015 – just three months after she was diagnosed with a deadly form of skin cancer. According to The Mirror, Daly, who had gotten married only a year ago – in July 2014 was planning to start her life together with her husband when she was diagnosed with terminal cancer. According to Clare’s family members, it was only back in September 2015 that she was diagnosed with an aggressive form of melanoma – which went on to claim her life three months later.
It all started in May 2015 when Daly started to feel a pain in her shoulder. She dismissed it as a minor muscle sprain that would go away soon. However, the pain persisted. When she finally approached doctors for some respite in July, even their prognosis did not show something very serious. Her doctors too believed it was just a pulled muscle. However, when the pain refused to go away and continued worsening, doctors decided to go in for a detailed analysis. They eventually found that Clare Daly was already on the fourth stage of melanoma – its most advanced stage. They were astounded about the fact that her cancer remained undiagnosed for so long. They also believed the melanoma had something to do with a mole that Daly had removed two years ago.
After it was revealed to her family members that Clare had terminal cancer, they were also told that the only chance of prolonging her life was to start dual therapy on her. However, since that kind of treatment was not available on the NHS (National Health Scheme), the family had to start raising funds for the same. Doctors also revealed that Clare had initially responded to targeted therapy. However, a few weeks later, it stopped working and the only option left was dual therapy. Soon, doctors figured that even dual therapy would not work. Before the family could raise enough funds for her treatment, her condition continued to worsen at the end of which she passed away on December 7 at The Christie Hospital in Manchester. Her funeral was held at the same church she had gotten married 18 months earlier.

Clare Daly’s famiky was left heartbroken by her sudden loss. Clare’s brother Michael McNally described her as a woman who always smiled – even after she was diagnosed with terminal cancer. Talking about Daly, he says;
“The one word I would use to describe Clare would be happy, as you can see in the photos she always had a smile on her face. Even right up until the last minute she was so friendly and chatty, her personality never changed.”
He further adds;
“The diagnosis came as a shock to all of us, Clare never used to burn whenever we went on holiday and had covered up whenever she went on holiday. She used sunbeds when she was in her teens but had made a point of avoided them for a good 10 years.”
Clare worked as a beauty manager and had married to Paul Daly back in July 2014. The duo were planning to settle down in their lives when the cancer struck. Clare’s friends described the couple to be “perfectly paired” individuals. The duo were always surrounded by their friends, thanks to their endearing personalities.
Daly’s brother Michael tells about the couple;
“She married the love of her life in 2014 and they were so happy together, they’d just moved into a new house and we’re looking forward to starting their lives together. The whole family are devastated by the loss of Clare but she was such an inspiration to all of us and we want her memory to live on.”
Following Clare Daly’s death, her friends and family have The Clare Daly Foundation in her name to raise funds to fight melanoma.
