Coconut oil has many uses and not just for health. It works as a skin conditioner and is an easy way to make skin softer and healthier especially if a person has skin conditions. It is gentle on the skin and when warmed properly, the skin will absorb it allowing it to penetrate the deeper layers of skin.
Newsmax reported that there were five reasons to use coconut oil for health. These included heart health, visceral fat, brain health, epileptic seizures and bacteria and viruses. Although health experts have been claiming for years that coconut oil isn’t healthy because it’s high in saturated fat, Ray Sahelian, M.D., the author of Brain Boosters, said that coconut oil gets a bad rap because most fats are saturated fats.
“Around 92 percent of coconut fats are saturated. This has led to the belief that coconut fats are bad for health, particularly in relation to heart disease. Yet most of these saturated fats are medium chain fatty acids whose properties and metabolism are different to those of animal origin. “Coconuts are nutrient rich. They are a good source of iron, phosphorus, zinc, and other minerals and vitamins. They are also a good source of protein and fiber, while containing few naturally occurring sugars.”
Numerous studies have been done on the benefits of coconut oil including a study in the Annals of Internal Medicine, which found no link between heart disease and saturated fats. A clinical Brazilian trial published in Lipids showed that when the women in the study were given two tablespoons of coconut oil instead of soybean oil, over the course of 12 weeks they showed an increase in HDL, which is the good cholesterol doctors recommend for health.

As previously reported in Inquisitr, not only does coconut oil help with weight loss, it also helps with winter health and beauty. Coconut oil helps to get rid of acne, build healthier nails and soften hair as well as nourishing it, especially when it is dry. Coconut oil is also better for cooking too, and if it is used for weight loss, it works best if consumed about 20 minutes before meals.
It is not enough to simply use coconut oil though. The right type of coconut oil makes the difference in its effectiveness. Organic virgin coconut oil is the best to consume particularly if it is used for weight loss.
Yahoo Health suggested 20 different uses for improving health with coconut oil. First, it’s effective for weight loss and makes weight loss more effortless. It also has antibacterial properties and works well for killing bacteria because it contains lauric acid, which works particularly well. Coconut oil is particularly effective when used externally for this purpose.

One of the least talked about reasons for using it is in the bedroom when having sex. One of the reasons is that it tastes good. It isn’t sticky and so it makes a great natural lubricant. Since it’s also moisturizing it works very well for a massage, and it makes it easy for hands to glide over the skin while giving a massage. A word of caution though: like all oils, it should never be used with latex condoms because it weakens the latex. Since it is antibacterial and antifungal, it’s also great for preventing yeast infections too.
One other effect coconut oil has on weight loss is that it helps to control hunger. For those who work out, it also has the added benefit of helping to build muscle. It is often used in many protein shake products for this reason. When making your own, all it takes is three tablespoons of coconut oil added to the shake daily to help build muscle and reduce appetite.
