Five Weight Loss Techniques To Drop Two Sizes

BRISTOL, ENGLAND - JANUARY 07: A woman passes an advertisement outside a fast food outlet on January 7, 2013 in Bristol, England. A government-backed TV advert - made by Aardman, the creators of Wallace and Gromit - to promote healthy eating in England, is to be shown for the first time later today. England has one of the highest rates of obesity in Europe - costing the NHS 5 billion GDP each year - with currently over 60 percent of adults and a third of 10 and 11 year olds thought to be overweight or obese.

First off, this article is not about some miracle diet pill that will do all the work for you. Most of these pills are dangerous, and even if they are the current fad, they are later found to cause serious health side effects, as in the case of fen-phen, which caused “lingering heart valve problems” even after people stopped taking the drug. If you are indeed serious about losing weight, the first thing to do is to see you doctor for advice. This article, however, provides techniques from reliable sources which explain how a person who is overweight can lose weight naturally and, most importantly, keep the weight from coming back.

Okay, how do you know you’re overweight? The first step is finding out how much you weigh and setting a target over a reasonable period. Weigh yourself and use this calculator to determine what is called your B.M.I. or Body Mass Index. This is an important figure as it will give you an idea of how much weight you need to lose. If you cannot bring yourself to weigh yourself, then you will have no chance of losing weight and it might be depression that is your problem. Without first being happy with yourself as you are, you will have very little chance of successful weight loss.

1. Low Sugar DietAs Time Magazine reports, there is no doubt that sugar is the number one cause of the rising obesity and diabetes epidemic. Sugar is high in calories and, because it is a simple carbohydrate, it is processed quickly and this means that the excess energy in your blood is converted straight to fat. There is no healthy amount of white sugar, so try brown sugar instead.

2. Non Fast Food Diet — Fast food is processed food high in sugar and fat. It is not about choice here, it is about your health and when you rely on fast food for your calories, you will not receive enough nutrition (giving you the famous “hungry-after-just-one-hour-after-eating-a-Big-Mac” felling) and this will only makes you more hungry as your body is hungry because it wants more nutrition, leading to a never-ending cycle of hunger and weight gain. Simply cutting out all fast food will help you dramatically lose weight.

3. Reduce Red Meat Diet — Cutting down on red meat — or cutting it out altogether — is good for your health, especially if you want to lose weight. According to Harvard university, this is down to the dangerous proteins in red meat. It turns out the argument “but what about your protein” is false, given that eating a high protein diet causes the same risks as smoking 20 cigarettes a day.

“The study determined that each additional daily serving of red meat increased risk of death by 13%. The impact rose to 20% if the serving was processed, as in food items like hot dogs, bacon, and cold cuts…. Consuming less than half a serving (1.5 ounces) per day of red meat could have prevented about one in 10 premature deaths in men in the study.”

4. Go Vegetarian/Vegan — The health benefits of a vegetarian — or vegan diet — are well know. Watch the Oprah Winfrey full episode below for a comprehensive look at the whole issue of health and cutting out meat entirely for weight loss and longevity.

5. The Richard Simmons Diet (i.e. reduce overall calories) — Simply cutting down on your overall calories — eating whatever you like in the process — is a great weight loss technique. The fact is that if you only eat the calories you burn, then you will not gain weight.
